BIO
Redmond "Red" Gerard is a trailblazer in the world of competitive snowboarding. He gained international recognition at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, where, at just 17 years old, he won the gold medal in men's slopestyle. This victory made him the youngest American snowboarder to win an Olympic medal and the first U.S. athlete to secure gold at the 2018 Games.
Along with his Olympic gold, Gerard boasts 16 individual World Cup podiums holds two X Games slopestyle gold medals, winning back to back in 2024 and 2025. At the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, Gerard narrowly missed the podium, finishing fourth in slopestyle and fifth in big air.
When not riding in World Cups, Gerard spends time filming in the backcountry. Transitioning from competition circuits to natural terrains, Gerard has showcased his versatility and passion for the sport's freeride aspects, notably highlighted in the film Joy, where he collaborated with fellow snowboarders Sage Kotsenburg and Ben Ferguson. This project earned him a nomination for Snowboarder Magazine's Rider of the Year, recognizing his ability to balance competitive success with impactful backcountry performances.
