BIO
Before Courtney took to the slopes competitively, she was a successful TV reporter in Minneapolis, MN. In September 2017, her life changed when she was involved in a boating accident that led to a lower leg amputation. During her recovery, she continued to work on air until 2021, when she took a leave of absence to pursue her passion for snowboarding. Despite having no racing experience, Godfrey used her winter to accumulate enough FIS points to put herself in the conversation for a spot on Team USA for Beijing 2022 and even found herself on a few World Cup podiums. Although she didn’t make it to Beijing, she is now an official member of the U.S. Para Snowboard team and has hope that more time on the slopes will lead her to Milano Cortina 2026.
In her free time, Courtney advocates for amputee rights at the state and federal levels, provides peer support to new amputees and is a public speaker.
