Corning and Henkes 1-2 in Slopestyle

SPINDLERUV MLYN, Czech Republic (March 31, 2017) — American men claimed the top two spots at the Junior World Championships slopestyle on Friday, with Chris Corning (Silverthorne, CO) taking the win and Judd Henkes (La Jolla, CA) in second.

It wasn’t a surprise to see Corning take the top spot, as he won the final World Cup of the season on the same course the previous weekend. Corning has had an incredible season, topped off by the gold medal at the 2017 Junior World Championships.

Slopestyle silver at the Junior World Championships was one of the best results of Henkes’ career. The 15-year-old finished fourth in slopestyle at the Toyota U.S. Grand Prix at Mammoth Mountain in February, and is a double threat in both halfpipe and slopestyle.

Corning and Henkes were joined on the podium by Tiarn Collins of New Zealand, in third.

Isabella Gomez (Issaquah, WA) was the top finisher for the American ladies, coming in 10^th. Tess Cody of Australia won the event, while Reira Iwabuchi of Japan was second and Finland’s Elli Pikkujamsa was third.

Keegan Hosefros (Truckee, CA) was sixth; Luke Winkelmann (Blowing Rock, NC) was eighth; Ty Schnorrbusch (Monroe Township, NJ) was 12^th; Sean Fitzsimons (Hood River, OR) was 12^th; Zeke Oppegaard (St. Louis Park, MN) was 19^th.
