Freestyle Jump Qualifications

All U.S. athletes shall abide by the US Ski and Snowboard rules in respect to the jump qualification process for US Ski and Snowboard and FIS events. Please read rules section 3070 in the Freestyle/Freeskiing Competition Guide.

Responsibility

  • Athlete and coach are responsible for athlete to be fully qualified to perform any jump in a competition (snow qualification)

  •  It is REQUIRED that athletes qualify their jumps
    • It is RECOMMENDED that qualified jumps should be recorded on the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Jump Qualification Log
    • Or be retained by the qualifying coach for seven years
    • Coaches not utilizing the online database should keep their qualification log available at competitions
  • If an athlete performs a jump in a U.S. Ski & Snowboard or FIS event that is not properly qualified, then the athlete will be disqualified from the event

Jump Qualification Process

  1. Athlete must qualify jump on water, foam or air bag-

    • Athlete must successfully perform the jump five consecutive times for qualifying coach

  2. Athlete MUST qualify jump on snow

    • Athlete must successfully perform four out of five to qualify their jump for competition

    • MO: during snow qualification, an athlete needs to ski in from six turns minimum on two of the jumps

    • Coach can use this Jump Qualification Form to assess

  3. Coach must keep record of athletes qualified tricks
    • It is recommended that the qualifying coach enter the jump in the Jump Qualification Log
    • Coaches not utilizing the online database should keep their qualification log available at competitions
  4. Athlete is ready to compete jump in competition!
