Revolution Tour Hits Mammoth Jan. 28-31
MAMMOTH MOUNTAIN, CA (Jan. 25, 2016) – The 2016 U.S. Revolution Tour continues with the second stop at Mammoth Mountain, California. The premier contest tour for the next generation of freeskiers and snowboarders, the Rev Tour serves to bridge the gap between grassroots competitions and the elite-level professional comps.
At the second of four stops on the tour, Mammoth Mountain will play host to big air, halfpipe and slopestyle competitions for both skiers and snowboarders. Future Olympic hopefuls will compete in Mammoth’s world-class, 22-foot superpipe and on the renowned Unbound Terrain features. The Revolution Tour is an International Ski Federation (FIS)-sanctioned event, offering amateur athletes a chance to earn valuable points. Skiers will also earn points on the Association of Freeskiing Professionals Tour (AFP) while snowboarders will earn points on the World Snowboard Tour (WST).
HIGHLIGHTS – Mammoth Mountain
LEGACY: Mammoth Mountain has a long history of hosting premier freestyle events such as the U.S. Grand Prix, FIS World Cup and USASA Nationals.
WORLD CLASS: The Unbound halfpipe and terrain park are situated conveniently above the Main Lodge at Mammoth Mountain, adjacent to the high-speed Thunderbound Express lift. The 22-foot walls of the superpipe are up to Olympic standards and the terrain features are know to be amongst the best in the world. Mammoth is a favorite for training and competition amongst international, world-class athletes.
HIGHLIGHTS – Revolution Tour
OPPORTUNITY: The Rev Tour offers up-and-coming athletes the chance to break into the professional ranks. Skiers earn points on the AFP tour, snowboarders earn points on the WST tour and both earn important FIS points. Podium finishers for the overall tour will earn invites to the World Rookie Fest in Austria (snowboarding) and the FIS Freestyle NorAm Finals (freeskiing). The Rev Tour also offers an overall prize purse of $67,000.
TOMMORROW’S STARS: The U.S. Revolution Tour is a much-needed stepping stone between grassroots amateur events and elite-level professional events. American Olympians such as Sage Kotsenburg, Maddie Bowman and Kaitlyn Farrington all furthered their competitive careers with success on the Rev Tour.
