BIO
Tyler started skiing at age three with his dad and brother on a small hill at the local middle school. As he got older, he started skiing at Mt. Wachusett during the nights, and “once he caught the bug, his parents couldn’t get him inside.” Ski school at his local hill turned into the racing team, and he’s been a passionate skier ever since. In 2017, McKenzie was in a biking accident where he sustained a brachial plexus injury that avulsed the left side nerve roots from his spine. It wasn't long after he underwent multiple nerve transfers and a left shoulder fusion to save his arm that he was back on snow coaching, and relearning to ski himself. McKenzie rose through the national ranks and joined the development team last winter and is looking forward to solidifying himself as one of the top standing Para alpine men for the U.S. When he isn’t on the slopes, Tyler enjoys walking his dog, racing his bike and camping.
