Mancuso 12th in St. Moritz Giant Slalom
ST. MORITZ, Switzerland (Dec. 15) - Olympic champion Julia Mancuso (Squaw Valley, CA) made another leap toward her champion-level form Sunday with an encouraging 12th in the St. Moritz giant slalom to lead the U.S. Ski Team. Reigning NorAm overall champion Megan McJames (Park City, UT) landed her first Audi FIS Alpine World Cup points of the season with 23rd. Slalom World Champion Mikaela Shiffrin (Eagle-Vail, CO), who scored the first World Cup giant slalom podium of her career two weeks ago in Beaver Creek, CO, started bib one in the opening run and slid off course over a roll and did not finish. Tessa Worley of France and Beaver Creek winner Jessica Lindell-Vikarby of Sweden went 1-2 on the sun-soaked 2017 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships venue.

- Julia Mancuso (Squaw Valley, CA) led the U.S. Ski Team with an encouraging 12th in the St. Moritz giant slalom, her best World Cup finish this season.
- Reigning NorAm overall champion Megan McJames (Park City, UT) scored her first World Cup points since 2010 with 23rd.
- Mikaela Shiffrin (Eagle-Vail, CO), who was on the Beaver Creek giant slalom podium with second, slid off course after starting first in the opening run.
- Shiffrin will be back in action Tuesday in Courchevel, France for the second World Cup slalom of the season. She won the opening slalom Nov. 16 in Levi, Finland.
- Tessa Worley of France claimed the victory with Beaver Creek winner Jessica Lindell-Vikarby in second followed by defending overall champion Tina Maze of Slovenia for her first World Cup podium of the season.
- Lindsey Vonn (Vail, CO) did not race in favor of preparing for the upcoming downhill in Val d'Isere, France - a race she's won three previous times.

We were definitely having troubles with her (Julia's) setup, but you can see that we're getting closer. It's very positive that we're heading in the right direction with the setup for her. She feels really comfortable now, so it's just building confidence, training and getting used to it. It was a big step forward today.
I don't know how many people actually slid out where Mikaela did. There were a few. The snow was aggressive and at the same time somehow a little slick, because we saw the same type of DNF's multiple times today. So you had to be super solid over the outside ski. It was tricky, but she was going and skiing well so it's not really a concern.
