BIO
Madeline "Maddy" Schaffrick, born April 29, 1994, in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, has made an inspiring return to the World Cup circuit, rejoining the Hydro Flask U.S. Snowboard Pro Halfpipe Team in 2025 after nearly a decade away from competition. Schaffrick previously retired at the age of 20 after a series of injuries and swapped her snowboard boots for a plumber’s belt, working for a Steamboat heating company before itching to get back on snow.
After a brief stint working in the trades, Schaffrick strapped back on board and began coaching the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club before earning a spot as the assistant coach for the Hydro Flask U.S. Snowboard Team in 2022. After two seasons of coaching, Schaffrick decided there was more left in the tank and felt inspired to come out of retirement and see what she could do on the World Cup stage.
In her first contest in almost a decade, Schaffrick clinched her first career World Cup podium with a third place finish at the 2024-25 season opener in Secret Garden, China. Her consistent season earned her a spot on the 2025 World Championships roster, marking a triumphant return to elite-level competition.
