2015 U.S. Revolution Tour Kicks Off at Copper

COPPER MOUNTAIN, CO (Dec. 8, 2014) – The U.S. Revolution Tour returns to Copper Mountain Dec. 15-19 for the first time in four years. The Copper stop will kick off the 2015 Revolution Tour season, giving the next generation of Olympic freeskiers and snowboarders a chance to compete on a world-class slopestyle course and halfpipe venue. Young riders looking to break into to the Olympic pipeline will have a chance to saddle up to Copper Mountain’s 22ft Main Vein halfpipe, a staple on the World Cup, World Snowboard Tour and AFP circuits. Copper Mountain has a long history of hosting events from competitive grassroots events like USASA Nationals to international elite events like the Sprint U.S. Grand Prix. Over 400 freeskiers and snowboarders will be competing for a total Tour prize purse of $67,000.
COPPER MOUNTAIN HIGHLIGHTS
- HISTORY: A stalwart early season stop on the Sprint U.S. Grand Prix for the past four seasons, Copper Mountain welcomes back the Revolution Tour after a three-year hiatus kicking off the 2015 Rev Tour.
- 22ft HALFPIPE: Copper Mountain is one of the few resorts in the world to boast at 22ft halfpipe and is known for their hard work and dedication to making it the first one open in the U.S. season after season.
REVOLUTION TOUR HIGHLIGHTS
- Prize Purse: The Rev Tour has doubled its prize purse for the 2014-15 season for a total purse of $67,000.
- Sanctioning: The Rev Tour will be a World Snowboard Tour National Level event as well as an AFP Silver Level event.
- Sport Development: The U.S. Revolution Tour started in 2003 to bridge the gap from grassroots competition to the elite level, and it works. 2014 Olympic Champions Sage Kotsenburg, Maddie Bowman and Kaitlyn Farrington have all used the Rev Tour as a steppingstone to launch their successful careers.
