Bjornsen Siblings Lead U.S. Skiers in Lahti

LAHTI, Finland (March 8, 2015) – Sadie Bjornsen (Winthrop, WA) led the U.S. in the Lahti 10k classic race with a 14th place, while her brother Erik Bjornsen (Winthrop, WA) led the U.S. men in 38th place. The sibling duo battled spring-like klister conditions and a deteriorating race course. Marit Bjorgen of Norway resumed her familiar place at the top of the 10k podium while Italian, Francesco de Fabiani notched his first World Cup win in the 15k.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Sadie and Erik Bjornsen led the U.S. contingent at the Lahti World Cup with a 14th place in the 10k and a 38th place in the 15k, respectively.
  • Jessie Diggins (Afton, MN) finished 17th.
  • Noah Hoffman finished 43rd.
  • Marit Bjorgen of Norway won the women’s race.
  • Francesco de Fabiani won the men’s event.
