BIO

Strong grew up in Hawaii and found a love for the cement waves of the skate park at a young age. By the age of 13, Strong had inked his first skateboarding sponsorship, and by the time he was 17, he was on his way to a career as a professional skateboarder. Just 10 days before his 18th birthday, Strong was riding a motorcycle when he was struck by a drunk driver in a head-on collision which led to the partial amputation of his left leg.

As Strong got his mobility back after the accident, he wanted to do anything and everything -- including snowboarding. Strong moved to Lake Tahoe in October 2007 to work at the Northstar California Resort and learn how to snowboard. Since then, Strong has earned every title in the sport of para snowboarding, including multiple X Games medals, world championship titles and world cup titles. Strong became the first male to win a gold medal in snowboarding at the Paralympic Winter Games Sochi 2014 and has continued to succeed for Team USA.

Outside of snowboarding Evan's hobbies include skateboarding, mountain biking, surfing, photography and rewilding. He credits his family and Amy Purdy and Daniel Gale, founders of Adaptive Action Sports, as the most influential individuals in his career. He was named the USOPC Athlete of the Month for March 2014.
