Cross Country Athlete Membership

It’s important your athlete has the correct membership for his/her sport. Please review the options below and the Cross Country Membership & Benefits outline to determine which membership is best for your child.

SafeSport and Background Screening Requirements:

Members 17, turning 18 and older during the membership season, are required to complete annual SafeSport training and periodic background screening and Introduction to Avalanches training. All requirements must be completed prior to memberships being activated. Members turning 18 during the season, which runs July 1st – June 30th, will need to register for and receive a green-light background screening determination within 45 days of turning 18.(Short term members are excluded)

Introduction to Avalanches Course Requirement:

  • The Introduction to Avalanches Course is completed through your online account

    • Members 17 years of age and older must have their own online account to gain access to the course

    • Linked members will not have access to this course

  • A link to the Introduction to Avalanches Course will be provided on the confirmation page and within your https://my.usskiandsnowboard.org account if completion is required.

 

Option 1 – General Membership: AGE 0-17 // PRICE $35

The U.S. Ski & Snowboard general membership is a great option for your athlete to train with his/her club throughout the season and may be competing in both U.S. Ski & Snowboard and non- U.S. Ski & Snowboard competitions without earning points or ranking on the National Ranking list. General members can participate in NRL events, but they will be seeded in the last group with other General members and Non-Scored Athletes.

 

Option 2 – Competitor Membership: AGE 13 and Over // PRICE $125 - Required for FIS registration

The U.S. Ski & Snowboard Competitor membership provides access to all levels of U.S. Ski & Snowboard scored and non-scored competitions at the local, divisional, regional and national level. Competitor memberships include scoring on national ranking lists as well as International Ski Federation ranking lists where appropriate (with additional FIS license). This membership is required for FIS registration and FIS level competitions.

NOTE: 2nd year U14s will only receive NRL points if they are racing in an event that is sanctioned for U16 or older athletesEvents sanctioned for U14s or younger athletes are NOT scored. U14 athletes not intending to race up against older athletes should purchase the Cross Country General License. You may upgrade your child to a competitor membership for his/her age class by calling Member Services on 435.647.2666. The $35 paid for the general membership and any applicable division dues will be applied to the upgrade. Additional division dues may apply.

 

Option 3 - Cross Country Non-Scored Athlete: AGE 18 and Over // PRICE $85

The Non-Scored Athlete membership provides access to all levels of U.S. Ski & Snowboard scored and non-scored competitions at the local, divisional, regional and national level. However, as the name implies it does not include access to the U.S. Ski & Snowboard points list. Non-Scored Athletes will be seeded for race start purposes in the last seed, randomized with other Non-Scored Athletes and any General members.

 

Option 4 - Cross Country Adaptive Competitor: AGE 0-100 // PRICE $80

An adaptive athlete competing in U.S. Ski & Snowboard Cross Country or Adaptive Cross Country events for national points. FIS license required for Cross Country FIS events and IPC license required for IPC sanctioned events.

 

Option 5 – Short-Term Membership: AGE 0-17 // PRICE $15/event

U.S. Ski & Snowboard short-term memberships are designed for those 17 and under who wish to participate in a single event. Short-term memberships are available for all sports. Does not include access to the U.S. Ski & Snowboard points list. Not for foreign athletes residing in the USA and/or regularly competing for a U.S. Ski & Snowboard club.

Short-Term Membership Guidelines:

  • Short-term memberships are $15 per event and may be purchased for up to five consecutive days
  • Limit of one short-term membership purchase permitted per person per season
  • Additional participation will require an upgrade to regular membership
  • The amount previously paid for the short-term memberships will be applied towards the upgrade during the same season
