Season 2026 Alpine Officials Education Working Group
Welcome to the 2026 Racing Season. We look forward to the upcoming season and all that it has to offer for our officials, coaches and athletes. An Olympic year always brings energy and excitement to the sport. As we start to look towards the games this season, we also start to think about the games returning to the U.S. in 2034. Many of our venues and officials are starting the preparation process too!
The goal of all officials is to create a fair and secure environment for ski racing to take place. In order to make that happen we complete an update of our Officials materials annually. Taking the time to complete these reviews in the fall helps us ‘dust the cobwebs,’ and take time to connect with other officials in our area or other parts of the Nation!
New with the 2026 season is the requirement to complete an annual review and update. This is outstanding for the sake of delivering yearly changes brought forth in the sport that affect our officiating path. From rule changes, venue support and the continued review of safety protocols this is a great way for us to become prepared for the season.
I would like to take a moment to thank all of those that have helped prepare materials over the summer. While our ski boots are off, many spend hours reviewing and confirming documents to help with the accuracy of the materials. Some may spend a few days, and others spend multiple hours per day throughout the summer to make this happen! Thank you for going the extra mile to lead the future of our officials' program.
Thank you for being an Alpine Official and I wish each and every one of you a successful season on the hill!

The U.S. Ski & Snowboard Alpine Officials Education Working Group has assembled a comprehensive manual for alpine officials. This manual is a guide to race organization, the rules, and duties of officials, timing and calculations, and other subject areas important to alpine officials throughout the country. The Manual has been updated for the 2024 season.
It is intended to be as thorough as possible with updates and revisions produced as necessary. However, it is not meant to be a step-by-step ‘cookbook’ with definitive procedures for every race situation.
