Wise Continues Win Streak

SNOWBASIN, UT (Feb. 11) — David Wise (Reno, NV) continued his winning streak at Dew Tour in Snowbasin, Utah winning his second straight halfpipe event. Wise's first run won the evening for him as his did his first ever 1440 in the halfpipe in his second run and couldn't get to his feet. France's Kevin Rolland came in second place and won the Dew Tour Cup while 16-year-old Torin Yater-Wallace (Basalt, CO) landed on his third straight podium. His perfectly executed double cork 1260 in his second run landed him in third.

HIGHLIGHTS

• David Wise (Reno, NV) won his second consecutive halfpipe event, capturing the top spot in the Dew Tour at Snowbasin.
• Torin Yater-Wallace (Basalt, CO) took third, his third straight podium.
• Simon Dumont (Bethel, ME) ended up in fourth place with a 91.75.
• Yater-Wallace's first run ended with his final hit; his ski came off mid-air and he landed on his feet, but his score suffered.
• It was a warm evening and the pipe was a great consistency- not too firm, not too slushy.
• Gus Kenworthy (Telluride, CO) had huge amplitude, but could not put down a clean run, he ended up in 10th.
• Next up the halfpipe athletes head to Mammoth Mountain, CA for the Sprint U.S. Grand Prix taking place February 29 - March 3.

I’m on a hot streak for sure. It’s fun to be out here enjoying the sport. Landing runs. I’ve been around in the scene for a long time and did a lot of finals where I just didn’t quite get the run the way I wanted to. So just being able to land runs and just enjoy doing what I do has been awesome. And that’s honestly what’s made the difference for me.

I feel great about my season. I guess I’ve been on the podium at almost every event so far. So I can’t be happier. I don’t care where I really ended up today, I just wanted to be on the podium so bad and I was. I had a ton of fun and I put down a run I had never done before, which has been my goal for a while, and I just couldn’t be happier.
