U.S. Men 11th in Falun Relay

By U.S. Ski & Snowboard
February, 27 2015

FALUN, Sweden (Feb. 26, 2015) - The U.S. men’s team comprised of Erik Bjornsen (Winthrop, WA), Noah Hoffman (Aspen, CO), Kyle Bratrud (Eden Prarie, MN) and Simi Hamilton (Aspen, CO) finished 11th in the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 4x10k relay. Norway took a close victory over Sweden and France.

Lead off skier Erik Bjornsen kept within reach of the leaders through his 10k effort, as fresh snow over kilster tracks made the going tricky for the classic relay racers. Noah Hoffman kept the gap to the front of the pack to just under 90 seconds, a respectable effort in the most hotly contested week of the year. Kyle Bratrud skied even for the U.S. in leg three. The 15k national champion has gained valuable experience in these championships. Simi Hamilton, typically a sprinter, closed out the relay effort placing the team in the 11th spot overall.
