Sargent, Bjornsen Strong in Team Sprint
LIBEREC, Czech Republic (Jan 13) - Sadie Bjornsen (Winthrop, WA) and Ida Sargent (Orleans, VT) combined to lead the U.S. Ski Team finishing seventh in a freestyle team sprint in Liberec. Norway's Ingvild Flugstad Oestberg and Maiken Caspersen Falla picked up the women's win while Russia dominated the men's with Nikolay Morilov and Mikhail Devjatiarov taking the win. The World Cup now heads to La Clusaz, France where the full U.S. Ski Team World Cup squad will regain after Kikkan Randall (Anchorage) and others took a break after the Tour de Ski.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Sadie Bjornsen (Winthrop, WA) and Ida Sargent (Orleans, VT) finished seventh in a freestyle team sprint World Cup in Liberec.
- Andy Newell (Shaftsbury, VT), who was sixth in the indivdual classic sprint Saturday, paired with Simi Hamilton (Aspen, CO) to finish 13th in the men's event.
- World Cup newcomers Erik Bjornsen (Winthrop, WA) and Skyler Davis (Jericho, VT) were 27th.
- The World Cup now heads to La Clusaz, France next weekend.
