Cochran-Siegle Lands Combi Points
WENGEN, Switzerland (Jan. 18) - Ted Ligety (Park City, UT) was well on his way to the Wengen super combined podium when his inside ski rattled off just three gates before the finish ensuring Alexis Pinterault of France the victory. Reigning Junior World combined champion Ryan Cochran-Siegle (Starksboro, VT) made a solid case for a berth on the 2013 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships team by finishing 25th for his first Audi FIS Alpine World Cup points in the discipline. Ligety was 13th after the opening run of downhill with Cochran-Siegle in 17th. The 83rd Lauberhorn race weekend continues Saturday with the famed downhill, the longest and most picturesque on the World Cup circuit.

To be honest, we couldn’t tell what happened to Ted. He lost his inside ski as he was going by the gate on the top of a roll, so it was really tough to tell.
He was losing time in the slalom, but he would have been in second. It’s just a bummer, because he skied a solid downhill and was in a good position for the podium.
Ryan did a really good job on the lower portion of the downhill - it was really impressive. We have another combined before World Champs, so we’ll see how things play out, but that he did a great job getting his first points in the discipline.
