Visa U.S. Grand Prix Continues at Park City

PARK CITY, UT (Feb. 2, 2016) – The second stop of the U.S. Grand Prix tour will be held at Park City, February 4-6, with the world’s top freeskiers and snowboarders competing in Park City Mountain’s world-class halfpipe.
The event will serve as the second World Cup of the year and points will also go towards and the Association of Freeskiing Professionals (AFP) rankings and the World Snowboard Tour (WST) rankings. Both events will be broadcast on NBC and NBCSN along with live streaming of the finals on NBC Sports Live Extra.
The world’s top freeskiing and snowboarding athletes are fresh off competition at the 2016 X Games Aspen, where the U.S. had widespread success. American athletes earned 21 overall medals, including gold picked up by Maddie Bowman (South Lake Tahoe, CA), Chloe Kim (La Palma, CA) and Matt Ladley (Steamboat Springs, CO).
Park City Highlights
- Park City has a long history of holding elite-level winter sports competitions. Host of the 2002 Olympic snowboarding halfpipe event, Park City Mountain is continuing its legacy by hosting freeskiing and snowboarding events such as the U.S. Grand Prix.
- Park City resorts will also host the 2019 FIS Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Championships.

U.S. Grand Prix Highlights
- The Tour: This year’s tour events are slated at top resorts that support the progression of freeskiing and freestyle snowboarding. Mammoth Mountain, CA and Park City Mountain will be showcasing the best athletes in the world on the highest-quality terrain in the world. New for 2016 is a Big Air event scheduled at Boston’s iconic Fenway Park.
- Olympians: A host of U.S. Olympians are scheduled to compete at the Park City stop of the U.S. Grand Prix, including three-time medalist Kelly Clark and Sochi champions and Maddie Bowman.
- Invited Athletes and Schedule: Check U.S. Snowboarding and U.S. Freeskiing for the most up-to-date athlete lists and schedule.
- Network Television: Each stop of the U.S. Grand Prix will be broadcast on NBC and NBCSN. Finals will be live streamed on the NBC Sports LiveExtra app.
- Sanctioning: Athletes will earn points in multiple points lists: Snowboarders will earn valuable FIS points as well as points on the WST rankings list; skiers will earn FIS points as well as points on the AFP tour.
