U.S. Snowboard Rookie Team member Eileen Gu (San Francisco, Calif.) earned her first-ever World Cup victory at the FIS Freeski World Cup slopestyle in Seiser Alm, Italy. U.S. Pro Team member Julia Krass (Hanover, N.H.) was third.

“I’m still buzzing from winning today,” said Gu, who picked up her second-straight World Cup podium. “Coming into the final run of three after messing up my first two definitely wasn’t easy, especially after qualifying first into finals. I just tried to focus on the little things in my run and it looks like it paid off! When I received my score I was astounded and ecstatic to get my first World Cup win. Not to mention, being able to share the podium with Julia made it even better.”

She’s coming in hot offer successful results at the Font Romeu, France, and Seiser Alm Italy slopestyle World Cups. Look for Gu to give some of the top female freeskiers in the world a run for their money. Also, Krass, a Junior at Dartmouth College, put down a score of 77.30 to jump into podium contention on her second run. Her score would hold for the remainder of the competition.

“Super happy to grab third today,” said Krass. “It was a really sick week here. The course was really fun, and training went well all week. Unfortunately, I couldn’t put together the run I was hoping for today, but still so happy to land and snag third place. Everyone crushed it the whole week, especially Eileen and Megan!”

Megan Oldham of Canada finished second, while U.S. Rookie Team members Marin Hamill (Park City, Utah) and Rell Harwood (Park City, Utah) finished in fourth and sixth respectively.

For the men, American Kiernan Fagan (Frisco, Colo.) finished third in front of U.S. Pro Team member Colby Stevenson (Park City, Utah) in fourth. Max Moffat of Canada claimed the top spot and Oliwer Magnusson of Sweden finished second.

Gu’s victory springs her into the top spot in the World Cup slopestyle standings, and Krass climbs to fourth. For the men, Stevenson is now in 11th and Fagan jumps to 14th. U.S. Pro Team member Alex Hall (Park City, Utah) is currently third, and U.S. Rookie Team member Mac Forehand (Winhall, Vt.) is fourth.
