Career Best Jump for Nita Englund

SAPPORO, Japan (Jan. 11, 2015) - Sarah Hendrickson (Park City, UT) capped the weekend in Sapporo with an eighth place World Cup finish. Nita Englund (Florence, WI) continued her strong season, scoring a career best 11th. Jessica Jerome (Park City, UT) was 12th as Japan's Sara Takanshi made it two straight.
Wind wreaked havoc with the event. On her first ride, Hendrickson soared 90.0 meters with good style, but drew an eight point wind compensation penalty that left her in 12th. Takanashi, meanwhile, went only 87.0 meters but had a six point compensation benefit putting her into seventh for the round. Takanashi came back with a 97.0 meter second jump to win. Hendrickson was third in the second round, soaring 93.0 meters to move up to eighth.
Englund had two balanced rounds, going 86.5 and 85.5 meters to finish a career best 11th.
The women's World Cup tour now heads to Zao, Japane for a pair of events next weekend.

QUOTES
Sarah Hendrickson
I am really happy with how the weekend went. Technically my jumps were really good for my standards and my coach was happy. The wind on Sunday was completely unfair and I don't think the competition should have continued. However, it did and I still walked away happy. I am gaining a new level of confidence after every comp and cannot wait for a fair competition. It's early in the season and I'm just excited to be healthy again.

I'm very happy with how the year has been going. The conditions were challenging and I do not think everyone had necessarily fair conditions but that is how the weather can be in Sapporo. I just focused on my jumps and it worked well. I'm so happy that training is starting to pay off. My body feels healthy and I am starting to listen to coaches. I'm excited for the future competitions."
