BIO

Three-time Olympic medalist, 2023 World Champion, 14x World Cup winner, and 2021 World Cup overall winner Jessie Diggins of Afton, Minnesota is one of the most dominant and successful cross country skiers in the world. Cementing herself as the most decorated American cross country skier in history, Jessie has taken the sport to a whole new level.

Timing has always been a strength for 2018 Olympic Gold Medalist—the upstart racer kicked off an international career in 2011 by snagging a spot on the World Championship team in Holmenkollen, an experience she highlights years later as a medal winner as “amazing and key to getting to the next level.” The next level came in 2013 when the Minnesota native teamed with Kikkan Randall to win the team sprint at the World Championships and then in 2015 when she won a silver medal in the 10k freestyle at the Falun World Championships. Then, she teamed up with Randall to win the first Olympic gold medal for the United States in cross country skiing in the team sprint at the 2018 Games.

Diggins is known for an aggressive style of racing and a seemingly boundless source of energy. As she once said, "I’m going to give this absolutely everything I can and play a tactical, smart race and see how it pans out. At that point, you’ve got nothing to lose."

Now, fast forward, Diggins is still making history. At the 2023 World Championships in Planica, Slovenia, Jessie won two medals - a bronze with teammate Julia Kern in the team sprint and the historic gold medal in the individual 10k. Jessie's gold medal was the first-ever individual World Championships gold medal in history for the United States.

When she's not skiing, Jessie loves to be active in other ways like hiking, camping, running, swimming, dancing or pick-up soccer games. She is heavily involved within the ski community and beyond and gives much of her spare time to causes she cares about. Jessie is a spokesperson for the Emily Program, "which I care so deeply about because they are the treatment program I went to when I was 18 and sick with an eating disorder." She is also an ambassador for WithAll, which spreads awareness and education on how to prevent eating disorders. She is also on the board of Protect Our Winters, "because we only get one planet to live on, and we need to take care of it!" And a huge fan and ambassador of Fast and Female, an organization that empowers young girls through sport and looks to get them involved in sport for life! She is also on the board of Share Winter, a nonprofit committed to giving diverse communities the opportunity to learn a snow sport for the first time.
