BIO
John Steel Hagenbuch is an overall gifted athlete and joins the Stifel U.S. Ski Team B team for the 2025-26 season.
Skiing for both the Stifel U.S. Ski Team and the Dartmouth Ski Team, Johnny is making a name for himself at all levels of the sport. At the end of the 2024-25 season, Johnny was on top of the NCAA National Championships podium in the 7.5k -- his second individual NCAA championship title.
Johnny grew up skiing in Sun Valley, ID, where he filled his time with all sports, but as he got older, cross country skiing took the #1 spot. Looking back, in 2019, Johnny was part of the gold-medal-winning 4x5k team relay at the Junior World Championships, alongside teammates Luke Jager, Ben Ogden and Gus Schumacher, all of whom are his teammates today. Then, fast forward to February of 2024, he skied to an impressive bronze medal in the skate sprint at the U23 FIS Ski World Championships and later, achieved his career-best World Cup result in Östersund, finishing in 13th place.
When Johnny is not pushing the pace in NCAA races and setting new records for longest distance rollerskied in Idaho, he can be caught mountain biking and wake surfing, climbing mountains with his friends, fly fishing and enjoying time at the campus of Dartmouth.
"My goals for this season are to qualify for the Olympics and earn World Cup points."
