After the snow control meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 25, it was officially announced that the two women's Matterhorn Cervino Speed Opening Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup downhill races slated for Nov. 5-6, 2022 are canceled. The races will not be replaced on this season's World Cup calendar.

The Matterhorn Cervino downhill was to be the first cross-border downhill race in FIS history. According to FIS, the organizers in Zermatt and Cervinia are already hard at work to make the premiere of the Matterhorn Cervino Speed Opening in 2023 a reality.
