Willett Soars to Gold at Dew Tour Killington

KILLINGTON, VT (Jan. 21) – Eric Willett (Breckenridge, CO) soared to glory at the second Dew Tour stop in Killington, Vermont with a solid 91 points. With snowy conditions riders were pushed to their limits and had a great day. Tomorrow evening brings the men's halfpipe finals with Matt Ladley (Chicago, IL) who qualified first in the semi finals. 

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Dew Tour is a multi-sport three stop tour with over $1.5 million up for grabs based on individual and year end standings. 
  • Sebastian Toutant (Montreal, QC) came in second with his frontside 1080 double cork, with Justin Morgan (Breckenridge, CO) in third with a double back rodeo.  
  • Chas Guldemond (Reno, NV) came in 10th place, look for him next week at Winter X Games in Aspen, CO and Dew Tour, Snowbasin, UT. 
  • Eric Willett's winning run consisted of a switch back 1080, cab 9 double cork, and front side double cork 1080 (which won best trick of the day), for the jumps. On the rails Willett frontside 270, backlit 270 off, and a front board 180 off.
  • The Dew Tour's third and final stop takes place February 9 - 12, 2012 at Snowbasin, UT.

The course was really slow. You kind of had to just land and head into the next jump. The speed was different on every single jump, you had to take different speed into each one and go for it. It worked out, I just wanted to be able to land a run, I got down to the bottom and saw that I scored a 91! I knew everyone could have bumped me out, I was just biting my nails hoping for the best. I am stoked for sure.

The day started off with some snow. Eric and Chas warmed up really well. Yesterday, Eric built a lot of confidence and pulled his run together, and had a really steady pace. He let everything come to him, and worked his way into the double slowly and it paid off. And he won! We are just trying to keep the team fun, we are all progressive and it's coming together nicely.

It was really great comp and the course was difficult. All the guys threw down, the hard conditions took out a few good riders, but all in all they were really strong.
