SCHLADMING, Austria (March 17) –  Lindsey Vonn (Vail, CO) set the women's single-season Audi FIS World Cup points record Saturday with an eighth place finish in the season slalom finale. The finish elevated her to 1,980 points, 10 more than the former record set by Croatian Janica Kostelic in 2006. Vonn can set the all-time mark for men and women, surpassing Hermann Maier's single-season record of 2,000 points set in 2000, with a 12th place or better finish in Sunday's giant slalom - the final race of the season.

Slalom has been a struggle for me the last couple of years.  It was a good step for me today. That was the goal, to try to get a few points and try to make my job easier for tomorrow.

I am really excited about Janica’s (Kostelic) record. Tomorrow I hope I can get the remaining 20 points to beat Hermann’s (Maier) record.

I can also win the GS title still, so tomorrow I am going to go as hard as I can. I am going to risk it but I am also going to ski smart. It’s a difficult course, a really steep course.

I was debating about whether it was better for me to train for GS and really try to prepare for that. But 53 points means I have to get third or better so I decided to try and get a couple of points today.

Mikaela Shiffrin
I am really happy with how my season went. I exceeded a lot of my expectations and a lot of other people's expectations. I am always looking for that top spot on the podium but not this time so congrats to Marlies (Schild) and Mikaela (Kirchgasser), they skied great, but I am definitely happy about how I have done this year..

Universal Sports will air the race at 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. ET
