Norway Dominates Drammen Sprint

DRAMMEN, Norway (March 11, 2015) – Norway made short work of the final World Cup sprint of the season, a classic race in their home country, by sweeping both the men’s and women’s podium and taking seven of the top ten places in both competitions. The U.S. team struggled in qualification with only Andy Newell (Shaftsbury, VT) and Sadie Bjornsen (Winthrop, WA) moving into the heats. Newell went on to place 12th in the men's event. Bjornsen finished 26th to lead the U.S. women. Eirik Brandsdal was the men’s winner and Maiken Caspersen Falla won the women’s event.

The World Cup concludes with distance racing this weekend in Oslo.

HIGHLIGHTS:

• Norway swept the podium of both the men’s and women’s World Cup classic sprint in Drammen.
