Moguls Junior Worlds Team Announced

ARE, Sweden (April 4, 2016) – A strong team of U.S. skiers will go head to head against some of the best junior mogul skiers in the world this weekend at the 2016 FIS Junior World Championships in Are, Sweden. The U.S. Freestyle Ski Team has named eight skiers to this year’s team. Athletes will compete in both single and dual moguls.

U.S. Freestyle Ski Team member Tess Johnson (Vail, CO; Ski & Snowboard Club Vail) leads the team of four women. Johnson, who, at 15 years old was the youngest athlete ever to be named to the national team, won the 2016 NorAm Grand Prix title and competed in her first domestic World Cups this season. Emerson Smith (Frisco, CO; Ski and Snowboard Club Vail), leads a strong contingent of skiers on the men’s side who combined for eight podium finishes on the NorAm tour in 2016. Smith finished second in the men’s moguls NorAm Grand Prix standings.

Competition kicks off on Saturday, April 9 with men’s and women’s single moguls. Qualifications begin at 11:00 a.m. with finals at 2:20 p.m. CEST. The event concludes on Sunday with men’s and women’s dual moguls beginning at 11:35 a.m. CEST.
