Matterhorn Cervino Speed Opening
With low snow fall on the Swiss/Italy border creating unsafe conditions, FIS canceled the Zermatt-Cervinia men's downhills the weekend of October 29-30. (FIS)

Due to lack of snow, the men's Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup Matterhorn Cervino Speed Opening downhills slated for October 29-30, 2022 were canceled one week prior to the event. The races will not be replaced on this season's calendar.

It was the event debut of the Matterhorn Cervino downhill, slated to start in Zermatt, Switzerland and finish in Cervinia, Italy. It was scheduled to be the first cross-border downhill in FIS World Cup history.

The event has one more chance in the 2022-23 season with women's downhills at the same venue the following weekend. Snow control will take place on October 25.
