Eight Named to Junior Worlds Slopestyle and Big Air Teams
PARK CITY, UT (March 23, 2017) – U.S. Snowboarding will send a highly competitive team to Spindleruv Mlyn, Czech Republic for the FIS Freestyle Snowboarding Junior World Championships March 28-April 2. Eight of the United States’ best junior snowboarders will compete in both slopestyle and big air events.
The 2016 FIS slopestyle crystal globe winner Chris Corning (Silverthorne, CO) will lead the team at the popular resort in the northern Czech Republic, where he placed second during last season's World Cup slopestyle. Corning recently earned two medals at the FIS World Championships — silver in big air and bronze in slopestyle.
The Junior Worlds halfpipe took place in Laax, Switzerland earlier in the week, where Toby Miller (Truckee, CA; U.S. Snowboarding/Tahoe Select Snowboard Team) and Chase Blackwell (Longmont, CO; U.S. Snowboarding/Jim Smith Club) took silver and bronze for the men, and Anna Valentine (Sparta, NJ; Okemo Mountain School) was second for the women.
