30 Spot Bump for Fletcher

By U.S. Ski & Snowboard
March, 12 2015

TRONDHEIM, Norway (March 12, 2015) - A tough morning on the jump hill was nearly washed away as Taylor Fletcher (Steamboat Springs, CO) moved up 30 spots in cross country to finish 14th in a FIS Nordic Combined World Cup in Trondheim. Norway's Magnus Moan took the win with the fourth fastest cross country as jump leader Eric Frenzel dropped to 10th.

"I had a decent jump but I tried to fly to quickly and killed some of the effect," said Fletcher, who was 44th in jumping and started 2:04 back from the leader. "I wasn't too far back from the race and I knew I could move up as the course was skiing very fast as it was like an injected alpine course. You have to have a short fast technique to survive and be comfortable on your skis so you don't waste energy. I went out very fast and was able to hold that pace and was moving up quickly. I was very happy with the race as it's been a while since I last had the fastest time."

The World Cup wraps up Saturday with the King's Cup at Holmenkollen in Oslo, the tour's most prestigious event won in 2012 by Bryan Fletcher.

"I am confident in my racing and I just need to focus on some minor details on the jump and things should go well Saturday in Oslo," said Taylor Fletcher. "The cross country course is one for the fast skiers and with the longer distance I feel as though I have a good chance. Would love to finish off the season with a podium and move onto next year."
