Snowboard Points
U.S. Ski & Snowboard Snowboard competitor members receive national points for each scored competition in which they finish without disqualification. Competitors begin their points profile with 0.00 points and may increase these points to a maximum of 1000.00. Points are used to rank competitors nationally on the Snowboard National Ranking List.
The list provides competition organizers with the data to establish a start order for competitions. This also allows competitors to compare their performance against the performance of riders in other parts of the country whom they may not compete against.
The Snowboarding National Ranking List is based on a "place-points" scale. This simply means that for every scored competition sanctioned through U.S. Ski & Snowboard, points are awarded from 1st place to a maximum of 100th place.
The exact calculations of the points awarded to each finishing place is determined by the competition level, and the average points of the best five riders starting the event. Once the competition level and average points have been determined the event is the applied to the appropriate points scale. For more information on how points are calculated, see Chapter 2 of your U.S. Ski & Snowboard Competition Guide, located in the References section.

The U.S. Ski & Snowboard National Points List will be run at the beginning and the end of the competition season and is maintained for posterity purposes. This list is not used in any current criteria.
To assure that your membership is processed for inclusion on any list, your membership materials must be received by U.S. Ski & Snowboard at least seven days prior to a closing date. Registrations are not considered received until they are complete. It is the athlete’s responsibility to ensure that his or her U.S. Ski & Snowboard and/or FIS membership registration is received; you can contact member services (435.647.2666) to check the status of your application.
To compete in a U.S. Ski & Snowboard Sanctioned Event, an athlete must be a member of U.S. Ski & Snowboard. To compete in a FIS Sanctioned Event, an athlete must be a Competitor member of U.S. Ski & Snowboard and have a FIS number by being inscribed with FIS. Athletes who inscribe with FIS will only receive their FIS number and be able to compete in FIS events at the valid date of the next FIS List.
National and FIS points are not continually being updated; they are recalculated for each new list. For more information on how points are calculated, see Chapter 2 of your U.S. Ski & Snowboard Competition Guide.
