Elite Aerial Development Program (EADP)
Overview:
In preparation for future growth, US Ski and Snowboard is receiving applicants for an opening for dorm parent and tutor. This is a great opportunity to provide supplemental income to a teacher or similar at the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Dorm Parents and tutors are hard-working, organized, reliable and willing to go the extra mile to ensure the safety and well-being of the athletes in his/her care. Dorm Parents must have the ability and skills to build a caring, friendly, and positive rapport with athletes, while, at the same time being able to deal appropriately with challenging welfare and discipline issues when required.
Attributes:
- This tutor will be a certified teacher or educational instructor, with professional student management, teaching skills, advising and tutoring experience.
- The EADP Tutor and Dorm Parent will live in the Olympic Training Center Dorm during EADP Camps and supervise student athletes during the evenings.
Accommodations:
- Includes: Room (Housing) and Board (meals)
- There are no expenses for room, board, utilities, weight room, or laundry, etc.
- All living accommodations are at the Olympic Training Center facility.
Location:
- Lake Placid, NY
Schedule:
- Only work 3 out of 4 weeks in the summer
- The EADP Tutor will manage students during study sessions 5 nights weekly from 6pm-9pm at the Olympic Training Center (OTC)
- Supervising 6-10 athletes doing school work
- Time off includes:
- Seven weeks in the Fall - Nov 15th to Jan 7th
- Seven weeks off in the Spring – March 15th to May 7th
- Two weeks off Dec 22nd to January 7th
Requirements:
- The EADP Tutor will coordinate tutoring/study support with the US Performance Academy (USPA) academic team.
- The EADP Parent and tutor will supervise the Olympic Training Center dormitory with four to twelve student athletes during in-camp evenings, manage evening check-in and curfew and be available in case of emergency in the evening.
Required Skills:
- Ability to build rapport with, mentor, guide, and manage students
- Ability to academically advise, teach study skills/time management
- Ability to coordinate/communicate with EADP parents and ACE supervisor
- Ability to teach secondary school subject content to students (grades 9-12)
- Subject teaching certification; classroom and teaching experience
- Ability to proctor student assignments, projects, tests, and exams
- Excellent organizational and communication skills necessary
Compensation:
$10,000 / yearly
