Vinecki Lands Junior Worlds Silver
VALMALENCO, Italy (April 4, 2017) – Winter Vinecki led four U.S. athletes into the top 10 at the aerials 2017 FIS Freestyle Junior World Championships, winning her first-career junior worlds medal with a second place finish.
Vinecki, who finished in the top 10 at the 2014 and 2015 Junior Worlds, had a string of strong results at the Europa Cup series in Switzerland prior to competing at Chiesa in Valmalenco. She landed a lay full with a score of 75.11 to win the silver medal. Tyra Izor also advanced to the super final, finishing fifth. Russia’s Liubov Nikitina took home the gold and China’s Qi Shao bronze.
On the men’s side, Patrick O’Flynn and Wes Perry landed in the top 10, finishing seventh and 10th respectively. Belarus’ Dzmitry Mazurkevich won the gold followed by his teammate Pavel Dik with the silver and China’s Jiaxu Sun with the bronze.
Junior Worlds competitions at Chiesa in Valmalenco continues April 4-5 with men’s and women’s moguls and dual moguls.
