Kim and Anderson Nominated for ESPYS
U.S. Snowboarding stars Jamie Anderson (South Lake Tahoe, CA) and Chloe Kim (Torrance, CA) have received nominations for the 2016 ESPY Awards after stellar 2015-16 seasons. Both Anderson and Kim are nominated in the Best Female Action Sports Athlete category, while Kim is also nominated in the Best Breakthrough Athlete category.
Even after breaking her collarbone in December, Anderson—the 2014 Olympic gold medalist in slopestyle—was the 2016 FIS World Cup champion in slopestyle and won both World Snowboarding Federation’s World Championship titles in slopestyle and big air. Plus, she won the Burton US Open in slopestyle, took a silver at the X Games slopestyle and won the Olympic test event in PyeongChang, Korea.

At only 16, Kim won her second and third X Games golds in 2016, becoming the youngest athlete to earn three gold medals. She also took home Youth Olympic Games gold medals in both halfpipe and slopestyle. Adding to that, she became the first female to land back-to-back 1080s in the U.S. Grand Prix at Park City, scoring her a perfect 100.

Kim and Anderson are up against surfers Keala Kennelly and Carissa Moore in the Best Female Action Sports Athlete.
Kim would be the first snowboarding athlete to win Best Breakthrough Athlete. She is competing against Jake Arrieta of the Chicago Cubs, MMA athlete Conor McGregor and Karl-Anthony Towns of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
