They are responsible for the safe conduct of the event and the accurate timing, judging, and scoring. They also play a key role in ensuring that the spirit of the sport and competition is maintained.

U.S. Ski & Snowboard and USASA both work with The International Judges Commission (IJC) to educate judges across the country. The IJC was formed to bring a high degree of professionalism and structure to freestyle snowboarding.  Through the establishment of a global educational forum, the IJC set forth the primary goal of training judges worldwide, through a unique and comprehensive training program, and protecting the interests of freestyle riders, through fair and accurate judging and progressive contest formats.

If you are just getting started in judging, check out the regional USASA Judges Clinics in the Resources Section.
